Klara Balint

Klara Balint MD, PhD is the director of regulatory affairs who has concentrated her efforts in cell and gene therapy research for malignancies and for retinal diseases. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Debrecen, Hungary, after which she pursued her training in cell and cancer biology and received a PhD from the University of Debrecen. After she came to Penn in 2005, she earned a Masters degree in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics and also received training in business at the Wharton School. Dr. Balint has been enrolled in numerous studies at UPenn, including studies of angiogenesis and tumor immunology in ovarian cancer and development of in vitro transcribed mRNA based HIV vaccines and most recently, she served as the Assistant Director of Clinical Development at the UPenn Ovarian Cancer Research Center. There she was responsible for development of regulatory documentation (clinical protocols, IND, scientific proposals and reports) for human subject research. She joined the CAROT Center in the beginning of year 2015. In her spare time, Dr. Balint likes to play tennis and take photographs
